TWO friends are looking forward to launching their pop-up business aimed at attracting shoppers in the run up to Christmas.

Crafter Linda Lyons and cake maker Wendy Preston are launching the venture The Krafter’s Korner Shoppe in the former William Rea Estate Agents, at 108 Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland.

Following some confusion over the availability the premise, the pair are working hard to get everything ready for the grand opening on Saturday, at 10 am.

Bishop Auckland county councillor Joy Allen will officially open it.

The plan is to run the shop until Christmas but Mrs Lyons and Mrs Preston are keeping their options open about the future.

The cakes and most of the crafts on offer have been handmade.

Mrs Lyons said: “We don’t think this is a long term idea but we will see what happens. We are evolving all the time.

“We are so new to this but we are really looking forward to it. We are doing Christmas fairs to promote what we are doing.”

“It is about giving people something a little bit different

Mrs Preston added: “We are both from Bishop Auckland and we are trying to support local businesses. I shop local to the area for the things I need.
