A DERELICT pub which has planning permission for four flats has been put up for sale.

The Foresters Arms, in Collingwood Street, Coundon, will go before an auction on Monday, December 18, with a guide price of £70,000.

Andrew Samuels, on behalf of the finance company that owns the site, applied for consent to redevelop the building into the four flats, after his previous application for six flats was turned down.

Durham County Council’s area planning committee (south and west) gave unanimous permission for the plans in October, despite 12 objections from nearby residents.

The original plan to convert the building into six flats was rejected back in March on the grounds that there was not enough natural light or ventilation to two of the flats as well as a lack of outdoor amenity space.
