A FREE course will help residents in Bishop Auckland to boost their English and maths skills.

The Level 2 programme, organised by County Durham Housing Group and taught in small groups by tutors, will be held at Auckland Youth and Community Centre, on Woodhouse Close, from Wednesday, February 28, between 9am and 4.30pm.

The ten-week course is free to County Durham Housing Group customers or those looking for work.

Community training coordinator, Sean Robson, said: "English and maths skills are vital in the workplace and in everyday life. This course not only provides all of the essential skills, it also gives a nationally recognised qualification that employers will be looking for on applications. The course is free and is designed for people who might not be particularly confident in their own English and maths abilities. The skills learned will genuinely make a huge impact on lives."
